Fast Like a .........

This was my 3rd day in a row for an "easy" 4 miler, well let's just say, my legs were really sore and it didn't feel "easy" today!!



THE GOOD NEWS!!


This was my first 4 miler with a sub 10:00 minute average pace!! Yay me!! I was fast, like a rocket.......maybe not like a rocket, maybe like a Pinto.....
but faster than normal. I have been so proud of my negative splits lately but today's run was just weird. My pacing was off! I was running with 2 other runners, one faster than me (McSpeedy)and one slower than me (McTired)! Kind of a weird place to be. I was pushing to stay up with McSpeedy and making sure to slow down a bit so that McTired wasn't too far behind, but overall, I ran faster than normal for an "easy" run ( non-race)!!!

Not sure what happened at mile 3????


What do you guys do when you run with other runners who have a different pace than you? Do you do your own thing and let them go ahead or fall behind or do you change your pace to match theirs??? I struggle with this sometimes.......

  2. I'm having the same problem. My regular running partner is a little bit fast than me. It's a good challenge. My running partner has been out of town for the past week. So, I'm running with a friend who's a lot slower than me. I tried running with her for the first mile or two. I wasn't getting anything out of it. So, I had to run ahead of her. I didn't apologize at the end. I figured it a good way for her to start pushing herself harder.

  3. I have a list of running commandments I found online and one of them is to never let anyone run alone if running in a group. I always keep that in mind when running with others.

  4. I have my two guys I run with in the wee early hours of the morning and there is an understood rule. On easy runs when pace doesn't really matter as much or on the warm up miles of a workout, we run together and shoot the breeze. Workouts are all business though. I run faster than the other two and we each do the workout at our own pace. They don't need to kill themselves to keep up with me and I don't need to hinder my own performance by slowing down to run with them. In the end it is you that needs to benefit from your run. They do too and they will understand.
