And All That Jazz.......

So over the last few weeks, all of my supportive, caring and loving bloggy running friends and readers have followed me as I ran in, complained about, bought and took back, 10 pair of running shoes. All Neutral, all said to be awesome, all not for me........ Well my friends, the search is over ( for now) and I have running shoes! I have running shoes that feels good on my feet when I run speedwork, tempo's AND long runs. A shoe that does not make my feet sigh with relief when I take them off, my feet actually want to wear these shoes to work ( probably not a great idea for an accounting office) and everywhere else that I go........................what shoe am I talking about:

SAUCONY PROGRID JAZZ 12'S!!!

Runner's World Awards: Best Buy

The Jazz has always been a great value. This latest update is softer in the heel--and an ounce lighter. The improved softness comes from a new midsole cushioning unit, which resembles tiny rows of empty foam cubes. These cubes compress during heel impact to disperse contact force without transferring it to the rest of the shoe. Recommended for lightweight runners who have high arches and are looking for a lightweight trainer at a very reasonable price.

This shoe is just right for me!! I actually didn't get the color above...... I got these....

And because so many of you suggested that once I find the right shoe, I should buy another pair, I ordered the navy/white/silver one's too and they should be in the mail right now!!
These shoes have great heel cushioning, a wider toe box with a narrower heel and they breathe. My feet don't feel like they are suffocating!! Yay!!
Now, no more excuses, no more complaining, it is time to put on my big girl panties (and my new fabulous running shoes) and get out there and do it!!!! Aching Quad here I come!!!!

Thanks to everyone that listened to me whine, offered support and suggestions, etc. It seems silly now, but I did learn that shoes can be the source of very much frustration when trying to stick to a training plan AND that every person is different. What works for some, may not work for me, and that my friends, is okay!! I was looked at like I had 3 heads at many running stores, told it was all mental ( what? me crazy??), and so many other things that made me feel a bit defeated! But I am back on track and ready to kick @ss!! ( Um, that sounded good!!......Now let's see if I can do it!!)

  1. happy to hear you finally got the shoe situation squared away, it really makes a difference doesn't it? I run in Asics, found the perfect fit four years ago so I just buy the same updated model year after year!

  7. Whoohoo! I'm so glad you found a pair of shoes that works...10 pairs is a lot of stress to go through! I may have to try these on if we have these in the store when I go in on Thursday. They would be even cheaper than the Asics I'm planning on buying! Awesome deal.

About your comment-The Proverbs 31 daily devotionals are pretty intense some days, which I like. There are some devo's that are about being a good wife and taking pride in 'your ring' which is great, but not anything that I can relate to. Unfortunately I think everyone knows someone that is or has been in a terrible relationship so yesterday's devo. was helpful in showing me how to deal w/ those situations. I'm so glad that you have a sweet and supportive hubby, it is great that there are good examples of healthy relationships for all of us single girls out there...does your husband have any little brothers/cousins/friends/acquaintances that would like to meet me?? Just kidding...sort of :)

  8. That is AWESOME!! It is pure torture to be in the hunt for THE right pair of shoes and not finding any. I wear the Saucony Progrid Guide 2's and LOVE them. I've had 3 pairs now and am SO glad I found them. So happy for you!

  9. Tobi,
As a longtime devotee to Saucony, I'm SO GLAD to see they turned out to be your faves! That's so cool! Wide toe box (no pinching) and narrow heal (no slipping) - perfect in my world! I wear the very ones you chose (colors and all). Heading out for a new pair this week, as a matter of fact.

I've been thinking about your shoe venture, and wondering how you were doing w/ it. Glad you found your Cinderella Slippers. Now go out there and kick some serious running butt!!! :)

    Have a great week!

Maybe I'll hear from you today, after you announce your giveaway winner? lol

  10. Um, word choice/spelling correction: (upon reflecting on my comments today...) realized it's 'heel' as in foot, not 'heal' as in to cure, though I'd have to say my Saucony Jazz always "heal" my "heels!" :)
