It's FRIDAY!!!!

My  F.R.I.D.A.Ypost is back. I am sorry my post went MIA the last few weeks, but I am trying to get back on track in all aspects of my life! So here is what the weekend holds, my thoughts, etc..........

Family and friends! This weekend I am headed to Jacksonville ( 3 hours North) to see my sister, BIL, and neice. My Neice Addyson is turning 1 this weekend and getting Baptized. The extended family will be down Sunday for the Baptism and her Birthday party!! What a wonderful way to spend the weekend!!!

Riddled with guilt for missing my tempo run yesterday and then turning off my alarm this morning and not getting up! I have been too tired to function lately! I was really pumped to run last night but we had so much on the schedule family- wise, that by the time I was able to go, it was 9:00PM and VERY dark. I do not like to run that late, in the dark, by myself ( yes, I am a scaredy cat!!). I set the alarm for an easy run this morning because my long run is tomorrow and I didn't want to do a tempo that close to my long run, but never fear, I did nothing, because I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep!!! LOVELY!!!

Itimidated a bit by my October training schedule!! Lots of speedwork and tempo runs........ I CAN DO IT!!! ( this is what I have to keep telling myself!) This will be my hardest, most challenging running month yet!! I have to say I am a bit excited too!!!

Determining how to handle my nutrition.....especially since when I called my sis and said we would not be getting to Jville till 7:30 or 8:00 tonight, she said....." oh, well don't go straight to the hotel, come over here first, we can drink......??, We need a drink!" WTF?? I told her my plan was to run 8 miles in the morning soooooo I will not be drinking tonight (BUT I might make up for it Saturday night cuz Sunday is REST day)!! I think my sister is a bit stressed out about this 1 year old Birthday Party ( it's her first child!LOL!) Anyway, I also ate an entire (900 calorie) Kashi pizza (my excuse - it was packed with fiber, Omega 3's, and protein) last night followed by a bowl of ice cream ( which might have been okay had I actually done my tempo run)! I really need to get my nutrition in check, especially as the miles start getting up there! I was doing great but the last few weeks, not so good, can you say fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at the Doubletree Hotel and a Cracker Barrel right around the corner last weekend, VERY BAD!!! I even asked the hotel front desk for a glass of milk to go with the cookies!!!!!

Anticipation my friends!!! I AM going to run 8 miles tomorrow! That will be my longest distance yet!! I am a bit nervous but notice that I said " I am going to" and not "I'm shooting for" or "I will try".......I am turning a new leaf and I am trying to be as positive as possible!!!

Yay!!! Yay! Yay! For the weekend! For time with my awesome hubby and boys! Yay for running 8 miles! Yay for all my bloggy running friends and their miles/races/runs this weekend! Enjoy!!

Happy Running,

  1. Love the post format! :)

You will do great tomorrow, good call not pushing it today. I made that rookie mistake a few times before it sunk in not to tempo before a long run.

  2. I hear you about running in the dark, I'm a scaredy cat too. I think sometimes when we miss runs no matter how hard we want to do them or try to do them, it's our bodies way of telling us to let it rest. Probably a good thing you went back to sleep. I need to work on my nutrition too. I'd probably have better more productive runs if I ate better. Have a fun weekend.

  3. You'll do great on the 8 miler! Don't worry!

Yes, my nutrition is usually not the best. I try, but I always think that since I ran -- many miles, I'm "allowed". Oh well.
LOVE Cracker Barrel! Their pecan pancakes are GOOD! :)
    Have fun this weekend! :)

  5. Oh you're doing great! You'll kill those 8 miles tomorrow and then you can have a cookie. No sorry, I didn't mean that, lol. I'll eat one for you, I'm only training for a 10K, my fat butt can handle another cookie :)

  6. I am so with you about running in the dark but when you have kids it is either run in the dark morning or dark evening and I don't get up earlier than I have to. Do you run with anyone? A friend of mine runs with me on my long night runs and that helps a little with the fear of being kidnapped (oh boy!) well, I was checking in to see how your 8 miles went. Mine is tomorrow-yikes! Hope it went well and have a great visit with your family :)

  7. Hope your 8 miler went well!!! And don't beat your self up for missing runs, you'll be fine!!
And take your training one week at a time, don't look too far ahead! It can be intimidating! Just remember, you will be ready for next weeks training because you did this weeks!!! It is all building blocks (and if you miss one it's ok, you know you can spread out those blocks on the bottom and still build on them). :)

  10. Love the Friday idea!
I too struggle with nutrition... esp when my boyfriend is sitting next to me eating straight out of a bucket of ice cream or a platter of nachos...Haha, LOVED that you asked the hotel for milk!
